Care for your SOL jewellery

Every SOL piece is handmade using precious metals and the ancient filigree technique.
A good care of our products will give you many years of pleasure and enjoyment and even become family heirlooms . And, of course, silver is valuable and filigree is a special metalwork. So don't forget to shower them with love and care!

Preventative care

Wear them as often as you can
You can avoid tarnish by wearing your jewelry often. Yes, you heard it right, the oils in your skin will “clean” the silver and keep it looking shiny.

Avoid exposure
There’s a reason generations of women have been getting dressed with jewelry last, as a finishing touch! Lotions, cosmetics, hair spray and hair products will accelerate tarnishing so make sure you avoid contact.
It’s also a good idea to remove silver jewelry when doing household chores. Contact with household chemicals, perspiration, rubber, and chlorinated will cause corrosion and tarnish.

Storing silver in airtight plastic bags with anti-tarnish strips is a great preventative measure. Just make sure you don’t store multiple jewelry pieces in the same bag: silver is a soft metal, so the individual pieces can scratch each other. Try to make sure that the storage area has low humidity. You can also place a piece of chalk, a packet of activated charcoal, or a container of silica gel in the storage area to minimise tarnish.

Professional Polishing
We suggest taking your silver beauties  to a professional silver cleaner if the tarnish is severe. Very old, fragile, or valuable pieces should also be cleaned by a professional. Contact us at to make your SOL goodies as new or suggest a silversmith near you.

DIY Cleaning
Light tarnish can easily be removed with a soft toothbrush and a hand sanitiser. Apply a few drops of hand sanitiser to your filigree jewellery and then brush gently with a soft toothbrush

Rinse with warm water and let them dry well before wearing or storing again.
The secret is the alcohol in the hand sanitiser. Alcohol will remove light tarnish and will not harm your silver filigree. Let them dry well before wearing or storing again.

A super easy method that your jewelries will thank you for..
